ManCat Monday - Mew Year Eve

A computer and a cat are somewhat alike -- they both purr, and like to be stroked, and spend a lot of the day motionless. They also have secrets they don't necessarily share. - John Updike

We have made it to the last day of 2018. It has been a good year, I stayed healthy and am enjoying being home with mum and just doing cat stuff.

I even let a few other people touch me this year, I wanted pets while mum was traveling so had to let Miss Kellie and Miss Jane give me some love. Plus mum's money man a few weeks ago.

Here is part two of my tummeh rub from a few weeks ago. I like being next to mum on a sunny day. I soak up the sun warms and warms from mum too.
Me and mum will cellybrate quietly tonight. No going out to party. Mum says she has some shrimps in the big cold box for us to eat.

Feetsball Report

Oh my, what a way to end the season and it wasn't a good one. They looked as bad as they have been all year. ARodg left the game after getting his head bonked. Backup guy didn't do much, the defense didn't do much either. They didn't score any points, the first time in 12 years!

What bugged mum during the game was the announcers. Said we got the worst of the worst. Even a guy who was trying to be funny. Mum looked him up, found he is a former player, AND afterwards looked at the reaction and most people liked him. Oh well, there is no accounting for taste. Plus mum is an old fart and doesn't like these youngsters!

Everyone have an excellent time bringing in the new year, please do so safely.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy last Caturday of 2018! Amazing, we are almost through another year. We have a sunny day to start and we got another dusting of snow. What came on Christmouse melted.
The sun is coming up over the house across the street, at least we can have some sun today. Then the back of the house. Mum and I will have to watch for fevvers later.
For now I am getting all warm and toasty by the heaty spot. When the sun gives us more brightness I will hang out in a sun puddle.
Mum started a new project, heck she hadn't finished the last one! She wants to make this for a vet who will be 50 in 2020 and says she wants to start early so she knows she will get it done on time. It will be a purrthday prezzie and his purrthday is early in the year.
Lastly, as many of you already know one of our woofie furiends took off to The Bridge this week. This is Tommy of the gang at the Poupounette, who sadly was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer just a week ago. He had a few final good days with his family, but alas, not many. If you haven't left a comforting purr for #1 and The Chans, please do so.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Throw Back Thursday

Hope everyone had a marvy Christmouse. Mum and I had a quiet morning, then she went off to have dinner with Miss Lynn and her old folks. You can see their wheely chairs, also Devil Dog Shelby.
Miss Lynn with Shelby, who needs to be watched closely when there is food out. She loves to steal food, any food from the table or countertops. She doesn't mind.
Giving mum a pathetic look wishing mum has food or something to give her, but mum does not give her stuff. She leaves that to her human. Mum says she is better behaved than she used to be.
ME! Hanging out by the sparkly little Christmouse tree.
Our flashback takes us back 10 years. Also, today is Derby's Bridge Day, he left us four years ago.

From Friday December 26, 2008

Finally Friday

Hope all of my furiends had a lovely Christmas or other hollyday that they cellybrate.

We had a quiet Christmas, mum came home early on Christmas Eve and spent lots of time outside clearing the snow from the driveway and raking the roof. Raking the roof means wading through the at least knee deep snow, more if there is snow piled up, like about hip deep. By the time she was done she was furry cold and wet. So a hot shower to warm her up and then she let me chat with the gang on Chatzy.

Christmas Day mum and Grampie went to church and then came over here for lunch and all. We exchanged prezzies, mum got a couple of DVD's. I got a few toys, Grampie got a cane! Not that he needs one at this time, but just in case he needs one.

I got a full can of stinky goodness for lunch, which meant I left mum and Grampie alone while they had their lunch. They had ham and I know there is some left for me to have at a later time.

Here is how mum spends her time once she can sit down at home. TV on, feets up, her nice kittie blankie on her legs to keep warm. If the TV isn't on, she is reading a book.
The she has a favorite beverage by her side. Hmmmm, I see four things to drink from here! A big glass, a wine glass, a can of soda and an icey mix of yummy Irish Creme. Mum was trying to keep me away from her drink here.
But I got at the drink anyway. I jumped up on the couch, went behind her head and then down on the arm of the sofa between her and her drink. hehehe Then I started to lap up that good creamy stuff, not bad, a little kick to it. I didn't get too many licks but they were good. That gave me my red nose on Christmas Eve. Mum only buys this stuff at Christmas time.

It is supposed to warm up today and tomorrow and do some melting. That is why mum had to get the roof raked, so the water goes down the right spots from the roof and not into the house with us! Otherwise we are going to spend our day, napping and reading.

Merry Christmouse

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, (because he was of the house and lineage of David,) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2: 1-20 (KJV)

We woke up to a barely white Christmouse. Just a light bit of snow overnight. It fell after 4 AM cuz mum was up at that time for a litter box break! MOL!

ManCat Monday - Christmouse Eve

Of all the toys available, none is better designed than the owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled and it makes a sound when you jump on it. - Stephen Baker

Happy Christmouse Eve. Mum says we will have a quiet day and evening, just chilling and eating some good foods for both of us.

Yep, I agree, mum is a fun toy. Yesterday I was walking all over her and she was making all sorts of funny noises! Plus I had a fun THoE session from one end of the house to the other. Multiple times as a matter of fact.

Otherwise mum worked on her crow-shay while watching feetsball. Of course I had to assist with the project. Mum is just getting started on this blankie.

Feetsball Report

Won for the road! It took them to overtime but the Pack finally won a game on the road. They had a really good 2nd quarter and 4th quarter and managed to score first with the TD during the OT period. ARodg scored two TD's and on a two point conversion. He almost had a third running TD during the OT but got called back for a penalty. The team  hasn't really put together a good, full game, they always seem to have part of the game as duds.

Be prepared, the jolly elf will be visiting overnight.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday and the Caturday before Christmouse. If your beans are not ready, they better get going. Still no snow on the ground here. The weather guesser said only a 10% chance of a white Christouse.

Miss Megan asked the other day about me having ornaments to whap to the floor. Well, what those were for Derby was some snow people. See, mum puts them out when we get snow on the ground that stays. We don't have that yet, so no snow people out for me to whap. Maybe some day, but not yet.
This is back from 2008, mum's old moving picture box which was big enough for Derby and the snow people to sit on it. He was probably getting ready to whap them down.
Me, I am not a big whapper anyway, so usually the snow people are safe with me.

Mum made her last trip to the food store afore Christmouse yesterday. Said there were way too many people in there, some just aimlessly walking around. She said they were husbands! Plus people trying to re-stock the shelves. Mum found her few things and got out quick!
Mum tried out a new soup recipe yesterday, that is why she had to hit the store, she needed a few things, like an onjion. Said the soup is OK but would be better with some tweaking which she will do the next time she makes it.

Our nice stretch of sunny days has gone, so just clouds. While it was sunny the other day I invaded mum's lap and she got some close up pics of me. Nose and whisker humps.

Have a good weekend everyone, be nice to people if you are out and about shopping, it's the most stressful time of year.

Throw Back Thursday

Still no snow on the ground here. We actually had 5 days in a row with lots of sunshine and we really like that here, you get lots of smiles when it is sunny. Yesterday was the first day it was cloudy.

Mum has a long board of the library meeting last night. Firs they were discussing the possible renovation of the building AND how much it might cost. Guess it will be lots and lots of green papers and how do they get all of those green papers. To be continued as they have lots of questions for the architect.

Mum's money man came to the house yesterday. He had a paper mum needed to sign and he was in the area, so he said he would just come by. Plus he wanted to meet me! Guess he has a kit too, but mum says he is a big kit, like a Norwegian Forest Cat. Anyway, he saw me on my hammick and he came over to say hi. I did let him get a quick touch, but then moved away. Mum told him he was lucky to touch me as you know I am not good with strangers.

If you liked my movie from Monday, our flashback takes us to when Derby was showing off his underside. You know we kitties don't show our belleh's to you if we feel unsure of you.

From Friday December 19, 2008

Affection Friday

If your cat is in the habit of rolling over and exposing their stomach, you can be sure they feel perfectly safe with you. Perhaps there is no more convincing sign of feline affection.
Oh yeah I love tummy rubs! When mum comes home I rub up against her and then plop down and show her my belly. I gets lots and lots of rub on my tummy.

It is going to be a snowy Friday here. Mum already knows she won't have to drive into work and can work from home. But it is going to be lots and lots of snow to move from the drive, she is not looking forward to this. We had way too much snow last winter and this one is getting off to a bad start. Mum hopes that like a few years ago there was lots of snow in December and then nothing for the rest of the winter. Time will tell.

Glad you like my whapping of the snow people. Mum only puts out the ones that won't break if they fall on the floor. None of them are heavy, so they are easy to whap off the shelves. Mum says some extra holliday toys for me to play with.

Continuing purrs for my buds Miles, Beau, Moki and any other kittie or bean that needs healing purrs.

ManCat Monday

Managing senior programmers is like herding cats. - Dave Platt

Mum says that is some sort of jobbie. Heck, we don't do jobbies anymore, we just chill and relax at home in retirement. Me and mum both like retirement.

Nice sunny weekend on both days. On Caturday, afore mum went off to eat out again this week, I planted myself next to mum to soak up some sun, love and gets some pets. Mum gives really good pets. This is only half of the moovie mum made, the whole thing was too long to upload!

Don't be hard on mum for not bringing leftovers. She said she has been eating stuff that I wouldn't eat, like eggs! She went out for brekkie with a couple of furiends and had an omelet, then Caturday she and Miss Lynn tried a new place and she had another omelet. Don't worry, I got lots of other treats. She said she is pretty much done going out to eat with furiends for this month. Said she has touched  base with the people she needed to for the holly-daze. Exchange little gifts, for mum that means giving them peanut brittle. She gets back other goodies in return, like cookies, jam and peppermit bark.

Feetsball Report

The Pack is done, stick a fork in them, they are done. They losted to Da Bears in Shy-town, keeping the streak of not winning an away game intact for the season. They are completely eliminated from the playoffs, no way they can make it at all. This is the second season in a row they won't make the playoffs, and it has been since the 2005 and 2006 seasons that they had two seasons like this. Heck, this was afore ARodg was the starting QB. This was under Grampa Brett.

Oh well, better luck next year under a new coach.

Have a good week everyone. Christmouse is next week!

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday! We have a wonderful sunny day here. Mum has gotten her self out of the sleepy spot.

Mum is catching up on the moving picture box this early. Me, I am doing my usual and hanging out on the hammick by the heaty spot.
Only 10 more days until Christmouse. What shopping mum had to do is done and the stuff was shipped directly to them. No wrapping stuff, she lets them do that. Plus with free shipping, why get it shipped here and then have to pay to ship it again.

Mum has been bizzy meeting lots of furiends for holly-day meals, brekkie, lunch or dinner. She is bizzy and she isn't bringing me any leftovers!

Guess I will go and watch for fevvers in the back, maybe I can get her to join me.

Happy weekend.

Throw Back Thursday

Pretty quiet around here. The weather guessers were getting all acited, snow and ice on Tuesday night. What did we get? An hours worth of snow 9 to 10 AM, pretty much melted by 11 AM. Sheesh guys, really? Although mum was headed out for a lunch date with a furiend, when the furiend said they wanted to come shop at a store near us. So they had lunch close and mum didn't have to drive so far.
I just spend most of my time here soaking up the heat. Then I go sit on mum and soak up some of her heat. At night I crawl under the covers to soak up her heat. I stay there until I hear the heaty monster come on, then I am out and back on the ham-mick to stay warm.

Our Throw Back takes us back again to 2008 and Derby. Showing off his underside!

From December 13, 2008

Sixth Folder, Sixth Picture Meme

I got tagged for the picture meme by 4 Cats Ruffin It. I sent this picture in for the CB Calendar for 2008. It is on the December page, for "party time".
Mum had three folders of pictures for her then Catpics05, Catpics06, Catpics07. So this was from 2007. I was cellybrating getting my collar taken off, you can see it by my tail. I also think mum had brought home something that had nip on it, so I was being a bit nipped out!

I tag the rest of the cat blogosphere on this one, show us your pictures!

ManCat Monday

A cat is a lion in a jungle of small bushes. - Indian Proverb

Well right now my bushes is one little Christmouse tree! Mum no longer tries to keep inside plants going like she used to. So no places for me to hide to pounce on her.

We had a pretty nice weekend. While it was cold, it was sunny. Mum sat in the kitchen on Caturday in the bright sunshine working on the Christmouse cards. It was such that she actually felt hot from sitting in the sun.

Speaking of Christmouse cards, yep, I got on mum's case and she got them done. She will drop them at the mail station today when she goes out to get her stuff done.
Me, I am in one of my favorite winter spots. On the hammick with the heaty vent blowing under me. I loves it here. One other place I like is to get under the covers with mum at night. I keep her warm and I stay warm too.

Feetsball Report

Goodness, what a difference a week and a new coach make! The Pack actually looked liked a good team yesterday. Mum cheered a few times, she was happy. Plus some of the points were scored by the D-fence, the first ones this year. normally they get more of these.

Everyone have a good week. Those of you in the south with lots of snow, be safe. Us north cats know how to deal with this stuff, so take it easy. It will melt!

Saturday, December 8, 2018

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Right now the sun is coming up, the sun filling the living room. The heaty monster is running, so the best place to be is my hammick. The warm air blowing under me. AHHHH, so nice.
Then maybe a bit later I will get up on my perch and soak up some of that sunshine. It may look warm but it is cold outside. Mum needs to bundle up if she goes out.
A few of you commented on Thursday's post about cord chewing. Neither Derby nor I have ever done that and mum is eternally grateful for that. Derby liked to chew on plastic bags, and me, I don't like to chew on stuff other than my foods!

Mum will have to get out today and get some library stuff back. She finished watching The Crown, Season 2 yesterday. Well, actually seeing it for the second time. She watched it all last weekend, then waits a few days and watches it again. She get stuff she missed the first time cuz she wasn't paying attention.

Plus she took herself to the moovies this week to see Bohemian Rhapsody, she really liked that.

Once mum gets her outside chores done, then home to work on the Christmouse cards. She has made a start, but really needs to get cracking on them.

Happy weekend. Stay safe and warm.

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Throw Back Thursday

We actually got to see some sunshine yesterday. It was so nice and mum even had to wear her shades when she went out to run her errands.

Mum has also finally started on her Christmouse cards. She printed out the labels and stuck them on the envelopes. She did this while she was watching the funeral on the moving picture box.

Unlike our Throw Back post, we don't have snow on the ground. A few little white patches, but that is it. Plus the weather guessers say we are going to get more sunshine and a bit warmer temps.

Going back to 2008 with Derby.

December 6, 2008

Caturday

This is what it looks like outside our house in the back. A week ago you could see the grass, now it is all white. We have had snow three times this week and more to come this next week. Mum is hoping this won't be like last winter!
Mum left one of her wind chimes outside. It got wet and all icy so she brought it in to melt off.
She just left it in the sink to drip off, that wet clear stuff was cold on my tongue.
Mum has started to get the Christmouse stuff out. That means the little white people have made their appearance. Mum keeps at least a few out as long as we have snow on the ground. Mum says she hopes she can put them away early this year.
No tree yet, mum says that will wait for a week or so. She doesn't want me to chew on the light cords! So I guess I will nap for now.

ManCat Monday

When it meows, one scarcely hears it... It has not the need of words to speak the lengthiest phraseologies. - Charles Baudelaire

Happy Monday to all. A little bit of snow arrived over night. Probably not even enuf for mum to need to shovel. She likes those kinds of snow storms. It was more rainy, cloudy and gloomy over the weekend.

So what did mum do? She binged! Not food, although she thinks she would be good at that! No she gave the old DVR machine a workout with watching a moovie, Ratatouille. Then she took that back to the library and picked up The Crown Season 2. She got through all of that by Sunday night. She will go back and watch it again afore she takes it back.
Mum got a pic of one of the blue jays that has been visiting this year. We don't always see them, but we do hear them lots.
Mum caught me sunning myself on a nice day last week in the front window. On nice days I like to nap there and soak up some solar power.

Feetsball Report

The Pack lost to a not so good team yesterday. Figured a poor team, coming from a warm area having to play in the snow, The Pack should have done better. It was so bad they even fired the coach, which mum has been hoping for for at least the past year. Not likely to be making the playoffs this year for the second year in a row.

Afor we heard the news about the coach getting the boot mum had figured out a new song.

All we want for Christmas is a new head coach,
a new head coach,
a new head coach,
All we want for Christmas is a new head coach,
So maybe we can win the Stouper Bowl again.

Hope every one has a good week.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday, Happy December too. Not long afor the man in the red suit makes his rounds.

Mum decided to do something different outside for Christmouse, she bought some fancy lights that shine colored dancing lights on the house. She got two, one she aimed at the metal monster house door and another for the rest of the front of the house. You can see below what it looks like.

As you can see from the video we got a little bit of snow the other night, we may get more later today and tomorrow. Mum says we will be staying home and watching the snow from inside. Mum says first we get rain, then some snow.

I sat on mum and she got the blankie finished. She stopped to take a pic to send to someone and it wasn't quite done, but it is done now. She already has new yarns out for another blankie, but says she has a couple of books to read along with a couple of videos to watch.

So  have a  happy weekend, me and mum will be staying home and doing whatever here. Stay warm and safe.

Throw Back Thursday

All is purrty quiet around here. Mum's foot is still a bit sore, she is doing sitting stuff like her crow-shay and reading.

Mum paid to get the car all clean again after hauling off all the fall clean up for the plants. Now she says it can get icky with snow and stuff for a few months.

Today's Throw Back takes us back to Thursday November 26, 2008, afor I landed here, so it was just Derby here at the time. Plus that was Thanksgiving Day that year. Grampie was alive so mum would have spent the day with him and eaten her turkey dinner at his place.

Thursday November 28, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. A fun story to relate on our Mericky holiday Thanksgiving. I had e-mailed this out to those of you I have e-mails for, but thought it so good, I needed to share with all.
Recently I received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.
Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.

I tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else I could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, I was fed up and I yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. I shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. So, in desperation, I threw up my hands, grabbed the bird and
put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that I'd hurt the parrot, I quickly opened the door to the freezer.

The parrot calmly stepped out onto my outstretched arms and said: "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

I was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As I was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day. Mum is not cooking a bird for me or us as it would be, but she did bring home some cooked turkey from the store tonight.

Travel safe, don't drink and drive, try not to overeat too much. Be kind to your relatives, you can get through one day with them and they with you. We all have lots to be thankful for, so just 'Give Thanks'.

ManCat Monday

There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat. - Tay Hohoff

Derby was the greeter around here. He would sit in the front window until he saw mum drive the metal monster in the drive. Then he would hop down and meet her at the door. I think he was really hoping to escape and get outside, MOL!

Me and mum had a quiet rest of the weekend. She cook a huge batch of onion soup which I can't have, but mum says the house smelled good. She likes onions.

Plus we kept waiting for the snow to come and well, the storm stayed away for us. We did get a little bit, but nothing like about 50 miles south of us. They had lots of snow, wind, so a bee-lizard!

Mum worked on her crow-shay, she hasn't done much on it lately, so she figures she better get working on it. I helped!
Plus mum losted the toe nail on the foot that she hurt way back on her trip. She says it stings a lot and even wearing socks is hurty. We made the pics small, who wants to really look at a wonky toe!

Feetsball Report

The Pack played on Sunday night against the ViQueens. Like the way they play all year, good in the first half, not so much in the second. So they losted and mum figures they won't be in the playoffs. She also thinks it is time for a new coach!

Have a good week everyone.

Caurday

HiYa Ducky here, Happy Caturday. I hope my Mericky furiends had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mum was home until early afternoon, so we had lots of time to cuddle together and we watched a bit of feetsball too.

Then she headed off to her furiends house where she normally goes on T-Day. Plus since it is a bit of a drive she stays overnight. She took a few new pics of the birds cooking. See they do duck and not turkey. So six smallish birds instead on one big one. Two grills going and the hair dryer provides air to get the coals hot faster for cooking.
Inside while the birds were cooking there was lots of nibbles. Most everyone brought something to share with the rest of the gang. Mum's caramel and peanut coated grapes are at the upper right..
A closeup of mum's nibbles. She said they ate about half of them and she came home with the remainders. So she can have them to nibble on at home.

So the six ducks are done and the nibbles cleared for space. The skin gets all crispy but the meat stays juicy from the fat. So you get both sides.
The first duck getting carved. Mum says they usually stand there like vultures to get pieces of the skin. Since there were so many peoples there (18) that they shooed peoples away for room. Not to worry, there was lots of meat pieces with skin on them in the service dish, so mum got her fair share.
She came home on Friday morning and just hung out with me, not doing much of anything during the day. The fevver feeders got refilled and a guy came to blow the leaves off of our roof, then he nicely also cleaned off the patio and front porch for us.
Mum also started with the peanut brittle for the year. She says she is going to make less this year. Not as many people to give batches too. Or she gives them smaller batches. She caught me licking some butter off the sheet! Oh well, good thing I am so cute, she forgives me!
Happy rest of the weekend guys.
